Y-90 Radioembolization
Selective Internal Radiation Therapy (SIRT) destroys tumors from the inside out. Not the type of radiation beamed into you that requires multiple sessions, but internal particle radiation deployed inside the tumor from a catheter in the artery. By cutting off the blood supply to the tumor and trapping radiation inside, the cancer cells die, while the surrounding normal cells survive.
TACE
Transarterial Chemoembolization is an outpatient procedure that injects extremely high doses of chemotherapy directly into tumors while cutting off the cancer cell’s blood supply. Unlike systemic chemotherapy, this method targets the tumor itself and spares the remainder of the body, thus significantly reducing side effects such as hair loss.
Ablation
Microwave. Radiofrequency. Cryo. We offer all types of ablation for cancer in the liver, kidney, lung, and bone. Often with a “curative intent”, meaning after one single outpatient procedure, the tumor is completely destroyed. All without surgery.
Biopsy
Radiologists spend years of training in becoming the experts at the initial diagnosis and staging of cancer, and Boulder Radiologists use all available imaging modalities to safely obtain small samples of tissue from worrisome lesions. MRI, CT, ultrasound, and stereotactic mammography are used for biopsy guidance to help avoid more invasive, surgical approaches.

“If we can’t cure cancer, why not control it? Progress, not perfection. Often our goal is to turn cancer into a chronic disease, making sure our targeted treatments maintain quality of life. We cannot allow therapies to become worse than the disease.”
